- BORSE E VOLTI DEL CINEMA ITALIANO
ZANELLATO pays a tribute to the great Italian cinema tradition and, above all, to bags, the quintessential accessory of the most authentic Italian Style. The luxury bag brand, in collaboration with the Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Lombardy Branch, is holding the exhibition DIVINE – Bags and Faces of the Italian Cinema, with a project that combines recorded history (Cineteca Nazionale ) with educational experiences of the film industry.
During the September Fashion Week and to mark the official opening of the new ZANELLATO Hub in Via Stendahal 35, the Vicenza-based company has arranged a twofold appointment with a selection of images featuring the stars of Italian films photographed at various moments of their lives, always accompanied by their bags.
Anita Ekberg, Mariangela Melato, Monica Vitti, Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale, Virna Lisi, Ursula Andress, Catherine Spaak, Gina Lollobrigida, Elsa Martinelli, Laura Antonelli, Stefania Sandrelli, Zeudi Araya and Sylva Koscina are some of the protagonists of a research project curated by Professor Giancarlo Zappoli, film reviewer, National Chairman of the Centro Studi Cinematografici (Cinema Research Centre), art director of Castellinaria – International Young Film Festival Bellinzona (Switzerland) and director in charge of the mymovies.it portal, together with fashion writer, stylist and IED Milano professor, Stefano Guerrini.
On 21 September the exhibition preview will be held on the new premises of Via Stendhal before a select public of VIPs, buyers and members of the international press, from where it will move on to Via Bagutta the following day, to be hosted by the ZANELLATO boutique in the heart of the so-called Fashion Quadrilateral. Starting from midday and for one day only, the photographs, many of which have been printed and published for the first time – will be on display for the joy of the public, after which a cocktail party will be held in the boutique at 6 pm.
The event springs from Franco ZANELLATO’s desire to do justice to some extremely meaningful archive images, an authentic cultural and shared heritage which is being exhibited to the general public for the very first time, and to offer a new reading of the Italian fashion and costume history from 1960 to the present day, by studying the importance of bags as a look-defining accessory.
During the September exhibition, ZANELLATO will present a series of 15 unique creations, directly inspired by some of the photographs in the exhibition.
ZANELLATO icons, such as the Postina®, Duo and Nina ZANELLATO, will be reinterpreted by drawing inspiration from the nonchalant elegance of the fascinating stars of Italian films.
«On contemplating fragments in the lives our great Italian actresses during the second half of the 20th century, I have discovered a conductive thread shared by all, as icons of a wonderfully unique charm, unmarred by the flaunting of status symbols. The same spirit animates our brand, designed to accompany our clientele in their search for an authentic and timeless style of their own», explains Franco Zanellato, CEO and Art Director for ZANELLATO.
